Frequently Asked Questions

What surface preparation standards does BLAST APEX follow?

We follow ISO 8501-1 for visual surface preparation standards (Sa1 through Sa3 profiles), SSPC-SP5/SP10/SP16 for abrasive blast cleaning, NACE SP0508 for pipeline and tank interiors, and ISO 2063 for thermal metallizing. Every project is verified by trained inspectors using calibrated profile gauges and documented with photographs and measurement records.

What is the difference between sandblasting and metallizing?

Sandblasting is surface preparation — removing rust, scale, and old coating to create a clean profile for new coating application. Metallizing (thermal spray) is the protective coating itself — applying zinc, aluminum, or Zn-Al alloy directly to the steel surface for 15-25 year corrosion protection. Both are often used together: sandblasting prepares the surface, then metallizing applies the protective coating. BLAST APEX provides both services.

What types of industrial coatings does BLAST APEX apply?

We apply: Epoxy coatings (standard, high-build, glass flake), Polyurethane topcoats, Zinc-rich primers (organic/inorganic), Coal tar epoxy for tank linings, and Thermal spray metallizing (zinc, aluminum, Zn-Al per ISO 2063). Coating selection follows ISO 12944 corrosion environment classification. DFT is verified per SSPC-PA 2 with calibrated gauges. Holiday detection per ASTM D5162 for linings.
