ISO 8501-1

What is Sa 2.5 blasting?

Sa 2.5 is very thorough blast cleaning under ISO 8501-1 (near-white metal, comparable to SSPC-SP 10). BLAST APEX pots, abrasives and gauges in India.

ISO 8501-1

Sa 3 blasting: white metal

Sa 3 is ISO 8501-1 blast cleaning to visually clean steel (white metal, comparable to SSPC-SP 5). When it is required, and cost versus Sa 2.5.

Kit matching

Which nozzle for which hose?

Match blast nozzle bore to blast-hose ID and compressor CFM. BLAST APEX pairings for Models 150 to 2001-R, and why an undersize hose kills production.

Air supply

Which compressor for blasting?

Size screw compressors by nozzle CFM at working pressure, not by HP or tank litres. BLAST APEX pot air demand vs the CK/XL screw range.

Consumables

Which nozzle lasts longer?

Tungsten vs boron carbide blast nozzle life. Why Al₂O₃ destroys WC fast, and when BLAST APEX tungsten carbide nozzles are the right buy.

Abrasive media

Which abrasive for Sa 2.5?

Copper slag, garnet, steel grit, steel shot and aluminium oxide compared for Indian blasting: profile, dust, reuse, and when BLAST APEX supplies each.

QA

Inspection after blasting

What engineers check after Sa 2.5: surface profile, soluble salts, dew point, dry-film thickness and holidays. BLAST APEX gauges and inspection services.

Air

Nozzle CFM table

CFM at 80, 100 and 120 PSI for #3 to #8 nozzles, plus a Boss screw-compressor size that can hold that flow. BLAST APEX, Bhiwandi.

Media

Abrasive consumption chart

Kilograms per hour of garnet-class media by nozzle size at 80, 100 and 120 PSI. Use it to bid shipyard and tank jobs. BLAST APEX.

Hose

Hose pressure drop

PSI lost in 19, 25, 32 and 38 mm blast hose against #4, #6 and #8 nozzles. Match hose ID to the nozzle or the pot lies about its pressure.

Pot

Pot loading chart

How many kilograms of garnet, steel grit, copper slag, aluminium oxide or glass bead fit a 150 L, 300 L and 500 L blast pot.

Profile

Pressure vs velocity

What 60, 80, 100 and 120 PSI at the nozzle does to particle speed and typical profile. BLAST APEX field chart.

Maintenance

Pop-up valve faults

Slow press-up, pulsing abrasive, constant leak, no depressurise. What the pop-up and gasket are doing and what to replace.

Safety

Exhaust and relief

Slow dump, screaming relief, delayed release, over-pressure. Treat a stuck relief as a stop-work, not a noise complaint.

QA

Flash rust after blasting

Clean steel rusts when salts, dew point and delay stack. What to measure and how soon to prime on Indian humidity.

Nozzle

Nozzle clogging

Damp media, oversize grit, worn orifice, wet air. How to unstop a nozzle without wrecking the liner.

Nozzle

B4C vs tungsten carbide

Life hours, hardness, impact toughness and cost. When BLAST APEX still sells tungsten, and when boron carbide pays back on aluminium oxide.

Media

Garnet vs steel grit

Hardness, recycle life, dust, finish and nozzle wear. Which media BLAST APEX sends for site slag work vs shop recovery floors.

Profile

Mesh vs profile

16-20 through 100+ mesh versus typical peak-to-valley on garnet, steel grit and aluminium oxide. Measure; do not guess.

QA

Why coatings fail

Peeling, mud-cracking, holidays and blisters after blasting. Cause, tool to prove it, BLAST APEX gauge kit.

Safety

Blasting safety checklist

Air, PPE, pot relief, hose couplings, hearing and dust. OSHA/ANSI style field list for BLAST APEX crews and buyers.

Glossary

Blasting glossary

Short definitions: anchor profile, Sa 2.5, CFM, holiday, dew point, metering valve. Linked to BLAST APEX product pages.

Air

Screw vs piston for blasting

Duty cycle, CFM stability, oil carry-over and noise. Why BLAST APEX quotes Boss screw machines for blast pots, not piston compressors.
